I'm going to have to be cooking more soon, and wanted to know if anyone knows of any good sites with recipes. Preferrably simpler stuff, I'm not really looking for anything fancy. Thanks.

www.epicurious.com is one site that is decent, but huge.
Personally we have a web site www.news14.com. It's a local tv station in the Carolinas. However, every day, they have either a chef from a local restaurant or "the food guy" present the recipe of the day. Those often seem delicious and they generally try to make them simple. The web site has an archive of all of them, I think under the "living" section. I'd definitely look there for something quick but different/good.
cheers

Hi.
Go to www.soundaround.org.
It's a talking magazine for the blind and they have got a recepy in any edition. There is an archive of 12 months on the website.
They also sell recepies on tape or cd for 1 British pound each. Very good price. You don't have anything to loose to try.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm bookmarking them all, and will be checking them out one by one within the next few weeks. I have a feeling I definitely won't go hungry. :)

Well, some sites essentially send you to other sites for recipes, while others actually maintain tiehr own database. One of my favorites is www.recipezar.com. If you enjoy eating breakfast out but are always loking for new breakfast recipes, go to www.mrbreakfast.com. They tend to change their website design after you get to know how to navigate it, but it is a fun site.

I think all the sites mentioned are good ones.

If I want to fix something specific, I just google it and usually come up with some good ideas.

For example, I wanted to fix chicken and dumplings the other day, looked on some recipe sites to no avail, googled "chicken and dumplings" and voila found it. They were good too.
Also googled "bacon microwave" to see if and how it could be done, with similar results.

Hi. I just found out about another good site. It's at
www.foodieview.com
. I barely learned about it a few minutes ago so am just figuring things out on it myself. But what's cool is that, when browsing the catagories, you can narrow your searches to be really specific so you can find exactly what you're looking for. It has catagory groups of main ingredients, types of dishs, famous chefs, special considerations (like quick & easy, vegan, etc), and Miscellaneous (like food magazines, food bloggers, etc). And from there, you can go into more specifics in those catagories or add other catagories. It's like a search engine thing. So yeah, there's another one to try out. *smile*

A few more sites to look at:

http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/

This site offers a variety of different recipes. He also has a section to make natural beauty products, such as masks, etc, and he also has a section of copycat recipes, from well-known restaurants.

http://healthrecipes.com/

This site offers recipes, articles and information on nutrition, weight loss, etc, and it also says that they offer free cookbooks to download.

You can also sign up for recipe newsletters (as well as others spanning many topics), from:

http://www.gophercentral.com/

and,

http://lhj.com/

This site also has a link where you can search and read through many recipes, in addition to subscribing to the newsletters they offer.

Opa! So many great sites here. I'm definitely checking out that blind one. Anyway, here are some. This is taken directly from one of the files I've created through the years, so the emphasis is on Greek cooking, though one of these is international and should keep you busy for a long time. The other general sites I know were already listed.

Recipe Sites
Not all the recipes are authentic, but most are extremely good. If you want a real Greek cookbook, try to steer clear of the fancy ones and stick to home cooking. , A Greek author is usually a good sign, and recipes from families are best. But again, the more authentic, the weirder the measurements. Greek festivals are great places to get inexpensive books, if you don't mind a little Americanisation or localisation.

http://www.fooddownunder.com
This site can be summed up in two words, absolutely huge! It has food from all sorts of countries and the Greek section alone is pages long!

http://www.greekrecipe.com
This site has many recipes. It may look complicated, but it's not once you get the hang of it.

http://www.greekcuisine.com
This site has a small number of recipes. It also links you to greekshop.com.

http://www.eatgreektonight.com
This site has a nice amount of recipes.

http://www.google.com/Top/Home/Cooking/World_Cuisines/European/Greek/
This is a huge list of recipe sites, and some of them look really good!

Measuring Sites
http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/cookingconversions.asp
http://greekfood.about.com/library/blmeasurements.htm
These are two sites for converting from metric to imperial and back. The first even allows you to measure by food type and specific food, and it also has a calculator for general food. The second site is specifically for Greek measurement conversions. Have both of these handy at all times, unless you're a master chef or a country cook. *smile*

Hope that helps.

Everyone has nailed most of my suggestions lol. Also though try www.cookinginthedark.com, another blind friendly site with some great recipes. I think the owner sells recipe books too if i'm not mistaken. Also for any adaptive equipment, should you need it, www.blindmicemart.com. I'd say indipentant living aids as well but their sign up is bloody rediculous in my oppinion. The suggestions about googling is good too, I've also found some great recipes that way. Also, I cook, so if I'm on and can help in anyway pqn away.

Cheers,
Simon
